Are hopes dashed for saving all of DASH? By WeHo News Staff, West Hollywood, California (July 29, 2010)The LA City Council, citing painful budget realities, will cut the West Hollywood DASH line running between WeHo's Westside and the Hollywood/Highland Subway Station on Sunday.Although transportation advocates found surcease in saving the Fairfax Dash, but that came at a price for the ridership, which will begin paying a 40 percent increase the same day they lose a valued line. The LA City Council voted last month to prune the DASH line bus system and to increase fares from 25 cents to 35 cents starting Aug. 1 ? and to increase them 100 percent to 50 cents starting July 1, 2011.
Monarch thinks smaller on La Brea Op-ed By Steve Martin, West Hollywood, California (July 29, 2010) It comes a quite a refreshing surprise when a developer proposes building not just one, but two, projects less massive than the Casden Movietown project that provide more affordable housing. The Monarch Group is proposing building two six story mixed use buildingson the Eastside. One stands at La Brea Boulevard and Fountain Avenue, the current site for Jon's Market, and the other at the Carl's Jr. site at Santa Monica and La Brea Boulevards. Both of these projects, while large, are clearly a welcome departure from the City's greedy attempt to squeeze every possible square inch of development from any new construction.
