Benefits of Membership

(Download "Member Benefits" .pdf - 25KB)

Networking - The LAGLCC provides many varied opportunities for its members to meet, socialize and do business with each other. Most events and activities are open to members, and to non-member who pay a small additional 'guest' fee to attend. This ensures a constant flow of both new members, and new faces.

Quarterly Dinners - Just another way the LAGLCC provides opportunities for members and their guests to meet and get acquainted with other members.

Breakfasts and Evening Mixers - Multiple types of events each month, many held jointly with other community organizations, provide a convivial atmosphere for displaying literature, swapping business cards, and getting to know fellow members and their guests. Members are invited to host mixers in their homes or places of business.

E-Newsletter - The weekly e-newsletter reminds members of all upcoming events. It is also an opportunity for members to have their upcoming events announced to the membership.

Website - LAGLCC members are listed in a directory on the website, with links to their own business sites, and they have the opportunity to buy banner ads or a hotlink for their business, an excellent referral source for new business. The website also has the calendar of events, member discounts, a photo gallery of events and a store to order LAGLCC merchandise.

NGLCC Membership - As an affiliate member of the Washington, DC-based National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, the LAGLCC provides full membership for each member in the NGLCC. Through the NGLCC and our own Governmental Affairs Committee we can keep you informed of legislation that may affect you and your business.

Member Discounts - Many members offer other members discounts on goods and services. You are going to buy it somewhere, why not keep your business in the community?

Educational Seminars - LAGLCC draws on its members and key outside experts to provide members with valuable educational seminars. Recent topics have included estate planning, home buying, car purchasing, organizing, presentation skills, cooking, and how to network with others. Members are invited to propose topics to the Board's Educational Seminar Committee Chair.

Business Tables & Introductions - All events provide table space for members to display their company literature and business cards; and most events provide time for a brief opportunity to introduce yourself and your business.

Pride Booth Space- LAGLCC members can take advantage of the large booth purchased by the Chamber at LA Pride. This gives members an opportunity to get their products and services recognized by the community.

Outings & Trips- At least once each year, the Gay Chamber provides structured opportunities for members and their guests to spend even more time getting to know each other while on trips or outings, such as our day-long bus trips to wine country or a picnic and evening at The Hollywood Bowl.

Annual Awards Banquet -This gala affair is attended by many community and government leaders. LAGLCC presents annual awards to outstanding individuals and makes grants to one or more organizations in the community, welcomes and installs its new officers and Board of Directors, honors outstanding members, and raises funds for charity, with a silent auction or similar activity.

Business Growth Opportunities- The LAGLCC's connections with the Small Business Administration and Corporate Sponsors like Wells Fargo, can provide members with access to needed advice and capital for business expansion.

Community Support - Through connections with many non-profits in the GLBT community, the Chamber provides its members with access to contacts and a variety of ways to contribute to and support other key organizations and causes to help our community succeed.
